Please join President Michael Rao, Vice President Sheldon Retchin and me for Virginia Commonwealth University's 27th Opening Faculty Address and Convocation ceremony on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at VCU's W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, located at 922 Park Ave. The ceremony begins at 4 p.m. with a reception immediately following the ceremony.

Held annually since 1982, convocation is the formal opening of the academic year and acknowledges the quality and excellence of VCU faculty. We will recognize four faculty members for outstanding accomplishments:

University Award of Excellence: Everett L. Worthington, Jr., College of Humanities and Science

Distinguished Service Award: Patricia W. Slattum, School of Pharmacy

Distinguished Teaching Award: Ena Gross, School of Education

Distinguished Scholarship Award: Rakesh C. Kukreja, School of Medicine
